Charged with “terror propaganda” and “being a member of the organization” for meeting arrested former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş in prison, lawyer Levent Pişkin has been acquitted of all charges.
Detained in 2016 on the grounds that he met arrested former Co-Chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş in prison, lawyer Levent Pişkin had his final heating today (November 18).
Handing down its judgement, the Bursa 8th Heavy Penal Court has ruled that 11 defendants, including lawyers Levent Pişkin, Cahit Kırkazak and Ayşe Batumlu, shall be acquitted of all charges.
Put on trial as part of the same file, one defendant has been sentenced to 5 years in prison on charge of “possession of unregistered firearm.”
Levent Pişkin, an attorney for arrested former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, was taken into custody in a police raid conducted to his house in İstanbul at around 5 a.m. on November 14, 2016.
